É claro que ninguém esquece a melhor banda de rock de todos os tempos, mas não custa nada lembrar alguns dos melhores momentos desses quatro rapazes ingleses que mudaram a cara da música pop do século 20: THE RUTLES!!!

De um fundo de garagem em Liverpool até a explosão da Rutlemania em todo o planeta - passando pelos históricos shows no Cavern Club e no programa de TV de Ed Sullivan - The Rutles se tornaram a banda mais conhecida, imitada e respeitada em todo o mundo. O mundo da música passou a se dividir entre antes e depois dos Rutles. Ron Nasty, Dirk McQuickly, Stig O'Hara e Barry Wom compuseram pérolas inesquecíveis como "Please Rut Me", "Rut Me Do", "Hold My Hand", "Blue Suede Schubert", "Twist And Rut", "Can't Buy Me Lunch", "Ticket To Rut", "Got To Get You Into My Rut", "Doubleback Alley", "Nevertheless", "If I Sixty-Nine", "Piggy In The Middle", "Another Day", "The Fool On The Pill", "Lying", "Blue Gay Way", "Your Mother Should Go", "I Am The Waitress", "Hello Get Lost", "W.C. Fields Forever", "Denny Lane", "Abie You're A Rich Man", "All You Need Is Cash", "Cheese And Onions", "Get Up And Go" (todas compostas pela lendária dupla Nasty & McQuickly), "While My Guitarist Gently Sleeps", "Here Comes My Son" (as duas últimas compostas por Stig O'Hara, após suas experiências na Índia), entre muitas outras, que até hoje fazem parte das nossas melhores memórias.

As primeiras tiragens dos LPs dos Rutles ainda valem peso de ouro nos leilões da Sotheby's, mas nenhum amante da música que se preza pode deixar de ter álbuns históricos como Meet The Rutles, With The Rutles, Twist And Rut, A Hard Day's Rut, Rutles For Sale, Ouch!, Rutle Soul, Revolter, Sergeant Rutter's Only Darts Club Band, Tragical History Tour, The Shite Album, Yellow Submarine Sandwich, Shabby Road e Let It Rot na sua coleção.

P.S.: A nota lamentável é que à sombra da genialidade e do sucesso estrondoso de The Rutles algumas bandas menores e medíocres tentaram ganhar a vida com imitações baratas dos seus álbuns e canções, como por exemplo um tal de The Beatles. Mas essas logo são esquecidas...
